Alizé

From the Trade Winds series, palms on paper. Each painting is titled after a real named wind. The palms are bent, blurred and interrupted by movement, so the true subject is the air rather than the tree: invisible forces made visible. The trade wind itself - the steady, warm easterly that blows across the tropical oceans and once carried sailing ships west. Alizé is its French name, and it is the wind the whole series is named for. Sold framed (19¾ × 19¾ in).
